Personally Identifiable Information

 

Personally identifiable information (“PII”) means information that specifically identifies you as an individual, such as your full name, telephone number, email address, postal address or certain account numbers.  Better Breastfeeding may ask you for certain kinds of PII to provide and promote the various services available through the Platform.  You do not have to provide us with PII if you do not want to; however, that may limit your ability to use certain functions of the Platform or to benefit from certain services or information.

 

Usage Information

 

Whenever you visit or interact with the Platform, we, as well as our third-party service providers, use a variety of technologies that automatically or passively collect information about how you access and use the Platform (“Usage Information”).  Usage Information includes, for example, your Internet Protocol address or other unique identifier for your device, pages you view on the Platform, and the search terms you enter into the Platform.  Most Usage Information does not directly identify you and is considered non-personally identifiable information (“Non-PII”); however, if Usage Information is used in a way that could directly identify you, we will treat it as PII.

Several of the functions on the Platform use cookies or similar technologies.  A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a website that is saved on your device.  If you do not want the Platform to collect information through the use of cookies, you can set your web browser to reject cookies from our websites.  Each browser is different, so you should check your browser’s “Help” menu to learn how to change your cookie preferences.  If you reject or block cookies, however, the Platform may not function as intended.

 

Better Breastfeeding may also use “pixel tags” (sometimes called “web beacons” or “clear gifs”), which are tiny graphic images, on the Platform.  Pixel tags may help Better Breastfeeding analyze users’ online behavior and measure the effectiveness of the Platform.  Pixel tags and cookies in Better Breastfeeding’s emails may be used to track your interactions with those messages, such as when you receive, open or click a link in an email message from Better Breastfeeding.

 

Third-Party Information Collection

When you use the Platform or its content, certain third parties may use automatic information collection technologies to collect information about you or your device.  These third parties may include, but are not limited to:

• Advertisers, ad networks, and ad servers,

• to improve customer service and the overall experience with Better Breastfeeding;

• to generate and analyze statistics about the preferences of users of the Platform;

• to detect, prevent and respond to fraud, intellectual property infringement, violations of our Terms of Use, violations of the law or other misuse of the Platform

• to comply with applicable laws, regulations and legal process; and

• to communicate with and advertise to users of the Platform and others by email, postal mail, telephone, text message or other means.

 

Better Breastfeeding may also combine or aggregate any of the information it collects through the Platform or elsewhere for any of these purposes.

 

Sharing of Information

 

Better Breastfeeding may share your PII with any of its parents, subsidiaries, sister companies or other affiliated entities (“Related Parties”) who have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this Privacy Policy, and you may receive communications from those Related Parties regarding their various goods and services that may be of interest to you.  You may opt out of receiving such communications by following the directions in any emails you receive from such Related Parties or by contacting us as described below.

 

By using the Platform, you are deemed to consent to certain limited uses of your PII, including that Better Breastfeeding may share your PII under certain circumstances with businesses to help the Platform function or improve Better Breastfeeding services.  Better Breastfeeding may therefore disclose information to outside companies that help promote and bring users like you the services Better Breastfeeding offers.  For example, Better Breastfeeding may work with an outside company to:  (a) manage a database of customer information; (b) assist in distributing emails; (c) assist with direct marketing and data collection; (d) provide data storage and analysis; and/or (e) provide other services designed to assist Better Breastfeeding in maximizing its business potential and maintaining the Platform.  Better Breastfeeding requires that these outside companies keep confidential all information Better Breastfeeding shares with them and (except as described below with respect to aggregate information or Non-PII) to use the information only to perform their obligations in their agreements with Better Breastfeeding.

Better Breastfeeding uses safeguards to maintain the security of PII it collects, including employing electronic security systems and password protections that guard against unauthorized access.  However, the transmission of data over the Internet cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure.  While Better Breastfeeding will use reasonable means to protect the security of information you transmit to Better Breastfeeding, Better Breastfeeding cannot guarantee that such information will not be intercepted by third parties and Better Breastfeeding will not be liable for the acts of third parties.

 

Additionally, please note that email is not encrypted and is not considered to be a secure means of transmitting information, so please do not email Better Breastfeeding any confidential, financial or sensitive information.

The Platform may contain links to websites operated by third parties.  This does not mean that Better Breastfeeding endorses these third-party websites. Better Breastfeeding does not make any representations or warranties about any third-party website you may access through the Platform.  Such linked websites are independent from Better Breastfeeding, and Better Breastfeeding has no control over, or responsibility for, their products, services, information or other activities.  In addition, Better Breastfeeding’s Privacy Policy may differ from those of these other websites.  If you provide personal information at one of those sites, you are subject to the privacy policy of the operator of that website, not the Better Breastfeeding Privacy Policy.

 

Children and Privacy

 

The Platform is not meant for children and Better Breastfeeding will not knowingly collect any PII from anyone under the age of 18.  By providing Better Breastfeeding with PII, you are verifying that you are at least 18 years old.  Further, if you become aware that a child under your care has provided us PII without your consent, please contact us at the contact information listed below.

 

Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information

 

You can review and change your personal information by logging into the Platform and visiting your account profile page.  You may also send us an email at the contact email listed below to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us.  We cannot delete your personal information except by also deleting your user account.  We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

 

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Better Breastfeeding reserves the right to change or update this Privacy Policy by posting such changes or updates to the Platform.  Changes will be effective when posted, and we will update the “last updated” date at the bottom of this Privacy Policy to reflect the date of the change.  You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, and your continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
